A Look At The Discover Gas Credit Card

A Look At The Discover Gas Credit Card

The Discover Gas Cad is perfect for people who want to use their credit cad to help them take a bite out of the price at the pump. Even with gas prices slowly going back to normal levels, we all spend quite a lot at the pump every month. With this card, you can alleviate some of the financial pain that using and maintaining a vehicle entails.

This card makes itself easy to use as it offers 0% APR in the first year after you activate your account. After the introductory period expires, the APR goes to a 10.99% variable rate up to a 17.99% rate. This variable rate is contingent upon a few factors, including your credit history and your payment history. There is never any annual fee that you must pay in order to use your card.

The Discover Gas Card offers some enticing deals as far as rewards go. For your first $1200 put on the card towards gas or auto maintenance purchases you will receive 5% cash back. Once your total annual purchases have reached $3,000, you will also qualify to earn 1% cash back on every purchase that you make. Up until that dollar amount is spent, you will receive half of a percent for the second half of the $1500 and a quarter percent for the first half. This is a much more complicated formula than other rewards cards, so make sure you understand exactly what they are saying. For gas and auto maintenance you will receive five cents for every dollar spent up to $1200. Including those automotive expenses, you will earn one quarter of a penny for every dollar you spend on other purchases. Once you reach $1500, your earnings will go up to half a penny for every dollar spent. Once you go over the $1200 for your car needs, you will only receive the percentage that applies to other purchases (.50% until you reach $3000 each year).

People wishing to consolidate their credit balances onto this card must specify that they plan to do so on the application process. By doing so, users of the Discover Gas Card will have the APR waived for the first year. There is a lot of fine print that comes with a balance transfer, so make sure that you are familiar with all of the details before signing off on a transfer.

As far as other fees, such as foreign currency conversion and default fees, the Discover Gas Card offers rates that are similar to other cards. They do offer a grace period of 25 days, which is five days longer than most cards offer. In addition, users of the card are covered by the $0 fraud policy in the case that you are charged for an unauthorized purchase. The card also offers easy management options in the form of 24 hours Internet access and a toll-free help line.

That’s amazing! It always seem easier to draw on the computer then on paper. Really now, to color like that makes me curious, though everyone’s style of art is different.

If you are already 4 months late both of the accounts are probably no longer with Discover or Target but have been "Charged-Off" and sold to a Collection Agency. If they have not been yet, by the time you get your Tax Return they will be. So you are going to have to find out who you need to deal with. Most likey they will be contacting you.

When you do find out you NEVER talk to them by phone, only through mail. This way you have proof of what was said. Now, 50% is a reasonable offer and if you can come up with that in a Lump Sum payment the chances of them taking it is very good. To do this send them a letter stating that you pay x dollars, they will then consider the debt settled. You also want to add that they will remove their collection account from your credit report. Do not sign this letter only type your name. Send it by Certified Mail with Return Receipt. Only after you receive something in writing from them that says they accept it do you send any money.

One other side note is that since you will be settling for less the difference between the settled amount and the account balance will be reported to the IRS as Unearned Income. You will receive a 1099-C at the end of 2009 for your taxes. The tax amount is based on your tax rate but even at the highest rates will be less than the amount you settled for. You just need to be sure it is paid or you could end up with additional fines and interest from the IRS.

Either the Capital One or the Chase freedom card. Dont get the Discover card. Not a lot of places take discover and i've heard people on here say good things about the card (like it was easier to redeem tickets with them) It is also a miles card

I personally have experience with Chase United mileage plus card. It was pretty easy to redeem with them (they dont change the amount on you, but there are some date restrictions, like with all other cards)

you should also take a look at the terms and conditions too and see which one is better on that part (i think lower APR %, less fees etc…)

You need to dispute this with the 3 bureaus. If you have any paperwork that could confirm what you wrote above, it will help get it off your reports. It will not hurt your chances of getting a mortgage – especially since the bill was paid and your score is good. You may have been turned down for a Discover card for other reasons then this little collection account. Mortgages and auto loans have colateral associated with t hem so it is easier to get approved.

    Good Luck !!

In a nutshell, 2-cycle means that they credit card issuers takes the average daily balance within 2-cycles to calculate your balance for the month.

In the regular average daily balance method, only your average balance for the present billing cycle is used.

If you have carry irregular balances or are in the process of gradually reducing your credit card debt, you are probably better off with a card that does not use the 2-cycle method. (see resource below for full explaination)
