Cad Software – the Lifeline of Cad Drafting Services

Cad Software – the Lifeline of Cad Drafting Services

CAD drafting software is used mainly for creating architectural designs or blueprints. Some of the available software in the market, allow users to mark different components of a design with different color variations. Some of the most advanced CAD drafting software available can support a million color variations.

CAD drafting software programs use different types of color numbering systems such as RGB (red, green, blue) and HSL (hue-saturation-luminance).

The availability of different CAD drafting software has helped in eliminating the need for manual design drafting. Complex machines and architectural structures can now be drawn and designed easily.

Let’s take a look at some of the most popular CAD software:

ARCHICAD

ArchiCAD is architectural CAD software for developed by Graphisoft. It is easy to use software popular amongst architects and designers. ArchiCAD automatically generates all required 2D and 3D output from a single file. Users work and edit directly in both 3D and 2D. The newest version (2007) is ArchiCAD 11.

CHIEF ARCHITECT

Specially designed for residential design professionals, it makes easier to visualize design ideas. Architectural drafting software commonly used by professional designers, builders and architects. Available in integrated 2D and 3D package.

MicroStation

Originally developed by Intergraph, It’s widely used among architects, contractors, GIS professionals and engineers to work on buildings and other projects.

DATACAD

DATACAD is a comprehensive CADD package, which includes a number of automated features for architects. The only software endorsed by the American Institute of Architects.

SolidWorks

SolidWorks is a 3D mechanical CAD program developed by SolidWorks Corporation. SolidWorks is used by mechanical engineers and designers.

Help answer the question about Auto CAD

Is there a website for auto-cad and drafting bids in the US?
I've seen a website for contractors where the customer would say that they are looking for someone to do roofing (for example). And contractors that have experience in roofing would put in a bid for that job. Is there something out there for people that does auto-cad and/or drafting?

mik987. With AutoCAD you can either go the Architectural Design route or the Mechanical Design route. I have 10 years experience with AutoCAD and enjoy my job. I just wish I was a master of better paying programs like SolidWorks or Pro-E. Pro-E is the hardest to learn but it pays the most. Lots of people know AutoCAD so companies aren’t going to jump to pay you alot.

Yes. Theoretically, you can take any older version to 2009 and open it there. Just make sure that you only go from old to new, and not visa versa. If you take drawings you made in 2009 to your school computer and try to open them in 2004, it won't work.

To save a 2009 file to 2004 format, just go to save as. Under the drawing name, there is an option in which you can select different versions and formats. Usually its either .dwg, .dwt, and .dxf for years 2007, 2004 and 2000. You'll probably want to stick with the .dwg format, but with year 2004.

AutoCAD works just fine under on Mac hardware. I have AutoCAD 2009 installed on the Boot Camp partition of my Macbook Pro, and it runs like a dream…I don't foresee you having any problems.

However, keep in mind that Autodesk doesn't "officially" support AutoCAD running on any Macintosh platform. That being said, it will run on either Parallels or Boot Camp, whatever your choice. (Assuming that you're using a Mac with an Intel processor).

Yes Autocad has such feature.I can just give u headlines at this time.

U need to learn to make BLOCKS with attributes…( Attribute is a data linked to that block like Part no., price etc. )

Then u need to learn ways of Attribute extraction. yes they can be extracted to Excel format.

So the key words for you to look in help are BLOCK with Attributes, Attribute Extraction. You can do them.

    Good Luck!

Auto Cad is not a career field. It is a tool used by engineers to do their work. It is a skill that should be part of your resume. Getting certification in Auto Cad will provide evidence to future employers that you are adept in using this tool.

You should do a search for "CAD freelancer" or just "freelancer" Remember that you'll be competing against the world. There is no "Only USA" web site. One of the advantage of being in the US is, that if a project recruiter wants to sue someone in India for a breech of contract, good luck. As a citizen/resident of the US there are laws that help to provide some relief/remedy to parties that believe they have been wronged. Make sure that when you bid, you bring up this point. It helps to even the playing field.

    Good luck.
